Employee
letters and letters of Employment:
Commendation
and Refusal of Request for Raise
|
Strategy:
This kind of letter can be difficult to
write. You want to refuse their request yet you don't want them to
get discouraged or their standard of work to be affected by your
decision. So approach the letter by politely turning down their
request by offering them another attractive, alternative solution.
Stage One:
Open the letter by acknowledging receipt of
their letter concerning claim.
Stage Two:
Begin, straight away by commending them for
their progress and contribution to the company but make it clear
that you regard their request for a raise as premature.
Stage Three:
Then immediately suggest another attractive,
alternative solution.
Stage four:
End by acknowledging again
how well they are doing.
