Promotional Letters.
Strategy:
To compose a simple, persuasive letter to
introduce your service and encourage new business. We also want
the letter to motivate the reader to take action and contact you.
In all sales or introductory letters we must
try to strike the right balance between including too much
information (people will be inclined to postpone reading the
letter) and not including enough relevant information so that we
fail to attract and hold the reader's attention.
Stage One:
Begin by informing your reader why you are
writing to him. Keep it simple and brief. The reader will
appreciate your clarity and lucidity of expression. Like you, he
is also probably very busy and so will appreciate this style.
Stage Two:
Explain what your new business offers,
detailing it's products or services, perhaps in an easy-to-read
bullet-point format. However, don't provide too much detail at
this stage as you want to keep the reader interested and curious
enough to contact you later to find out more.
Stage Three:
Include any literature or product samples
that you believe will create further interest in your business.
Stage Four:
End by encouraging the recipient to get in
touch with you. Always indicate that any discussions will be
without obligation and that you look forward to hearing from them.
