Strategy:
Complaint letters can be difficult to write.
You want to persuade the recipient of the letter to take immediate
action to correct his mistake and yet you want to do it without
giving unnecessary offence. However, in this case, depending on
the nature of the allegations make it absolutely clear through
strong and direct language that you intend to take action if the
matter is not solved to your satisfaction.
Stage One:
Open the letter by highlighting your deep
concern about their article.
Stage Two:
Now detail one-by-one all the totally
inaccurate statements and suggestions that were contained in the
article.
Stage Three:
Make it very clear that you want them to
publish your letter refuting all these false allegations along
with an public apology from them and insist they give it equal
prominence as the original article.
Stage Four:
End by confirming that unless they take this
action you will have no option but to take legal action to protect
your good name.
